Be Better at Email by Perfecting Your Outbox
Email is nearly extinct! Google Hangouts works for us! The future is Slack! Despite cries for a successor, email still has a stranglehold in the business world and it isn't going anywhere. It's just one of a myriad of options for communicating with coworkers and customers, yet very few people consider themselves to be proficient with email.
What does it mean to be "good" at email? Knowing the context and purpose of your messages can change how they are interpreted, how quickly others respond, and how useful replies will be. This session won't take you to Inbox Zero, but it will teach you how to write the most effective emails for many common situations. We will examine what constitutes "bad" email, then review good practices and guidelines, including KISS, topic bulleting, actionable summaries, absolute scheduling, and many others.
