Jim Kirkbride!

Software developer, dad, geek. Not necessarily in that order.

Bio!
Jim is a software developer with more than nine years of experience in making mistakes on various projects, big and small. Occasionally he's learned from these mistakes and doesn't mind sharing how not to repeat them with others. By day he is a software engineer with Beam Technologies. Jim is a big advocate of Agile, TDD, and Paired-Programming. When not writing code Jim enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with his family.

Searching for UFOs with Elasticsearch

Elasticsearch is an exciting and powerful tool that enables you to quickly add search capabilities to your application to enable your users to find whatever it is they're looking for. In this session attendees will learn the nuts and bolts of Elasticsearch, including basic concepts such as ingestion, search, aggregation and more. We’ll demonstrate how to use Elasticsearch by building a simple UFO search engine that Scully and Mulder would be jealous of by integrating it into the front and backend of your application. By the time we’re done you’ll want to believe too! The truth is out there and now you can search for it yourself!
